Roman Romantic Dinner

Roman Romantic Dinner by Designlab Experience was an immersive evening held in a newly renovated mansion in Kuwait, inspired by the elegance of Roman countryside villas. Hosting 180 guests, the private event artfully blended architecture, gastronomy, and performance into a meticulously curated experience.

The guests were welcomed into a picturesque garden framed by cypress trees and marble fountains, inviting them to experience a journey of refined elegance and artistic storytelling.

The path led to the Majlis—an elevated platform at the heart of the event—where lush greenery, architectural precision, and a large-scale ceiling installation of draped mesh and cascading flowers were brought to life through a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. This tranquil, layered environment offered a harmonious dialogue between nature and design, evoking the spirit of Roman gardens.

Custom-designed furniture in rich autumnal hues complemented the outdoor setting, while a patterned dance floor inspired by traditional mosaics added historic charm. An elevated stage and sculptural mocktail bar seamlessly fused form and function. Behind a moving metallic curtain, live music performances evolved throughout the night, engaging guests with a dynamic visual experience.

The dinner was hosted on the villa’s lower floor, converted into an intimate yet grand space divided into a main dining room, buffet area, and library nook. Each zone reflected the Roman countryside theme, anchored by hand-sculpted bas-relief works by Russian artist Goga Tandashvili. These intricate, classical pieces—reminiscent of Italian landscape paintings—were illuminated by dramatic lighting that accentuated their depth and contrast.

Every element of the tablescape was meticulously curated: bespoke coverings, elegant seating, and centerpieces of grapes, florals, and candelabras paid homage to the abundance of Roman feasts.
